Backlund suffers broken collarbone in BSB test fall

Filip Backlund has sustained a broken collarbone and is expected to be out of action for the opening round of the British Superbike season at Silverstone.

Filip Backlund has suffered a broken collarbone and is expected to be out of action for the opening round of the 2016 MCE British Superbike championship at Silverstone next weekend.

The Quattro Plant Kawasaki rider sustained his injury during the very last pre-season test session at Donington Park after crashing heavily at the exit of Goddards. The Swedish rider required gas to relieve the pain trackside before being taken away for further medical treatment.

After the broken collarbone was confirmed it is believed Backlund will be forced out of the season opener at Silverstone which is only a week away.

Filip Backlund suffered a broken collarbone after crashing at Goddards and the Quattro Plant Cool Kawasaki rider will undergo surgery this evening and will be forced to miss the opening round of the season at Silverstone.

With such a limited timeframe it is unlikely the team will field a replacement rider at the Northamptonshire track but will still be represented in BSB by 2015 Riders' Cup winner and top rookie Luke Mossey who ended the Donington Park test fourth fastest overall.
