Smrz ruled out of Brands Hatch Indy with injury

Jakub Smrz has been forced to sit out of the races for round three of the MCE British Superbike championship at Brands Hatch Indy due to injury

Jakub Smrz has been forced to sit out of the races for round three of the MCE British Superbike championship at Brands Hatch Indy due to injury sustained in the final free practice session.

The Smiths Racing BMW rider suffered a heavy high-side off during free practice three at Clearways and was taken to the medical centre as a precaution with bruising on his ribs and chest.

The Czech Republic rider attempted a run during qualifying but was forced to return to the pits on his out lap as the pain was too great.

After giving himself a night to see if his condition would improve enough to race at Brands Hatch Indy Smrz has taken the advice of medical staff not to compete due to the dangers and risk of further injury.

Smiths Racing BMW confirmed the news via Twitter, which sees Smrz added to the lengthy injury list which includes Bennetts Suzuki's Ryuichi Kiyonari, Team WD-40 Kawasaki's Jack Kennedy and Riders Motorcycles BMW's Martin Jessopp.
