Luke Mossey has stormed to the top of the times at the in-season Bennetts British Superbike championship test at Snetterton edging out Bradley Ray as Leon Haslam hits trouble in the final session.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki riders Mossey and Haslam shared top spot in the opening two sessions at the Norfolk circuit but Mossey struck back in the final phase to set the fastest time of the test with a 1m 48.008s. Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray came close to stealing the headlines with a late flying lap but narrowly missed out with a 1m 48.013s.

Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty also impressed during the Snetterton test consistently within the top four in every session, while a number of other BSB rides were absent from the test due to road racing commitments, as OMG Suzuki’s Gino Rea leapt up to fourth in the final session with a late lap.

Rea’s lap shuffled Haslam down to fifth place in the final session having sat out the second half due to a technical issue which forced a red flag stoppage with oil spilt on track between Turn 1 and 2.

Haslam’s BSB title rival Shane Byrne suffered a harder day when he was forced out of testing after just two laps in a crash in the opening session. The Be Wiser Ducati rider was taken to the medical centre for assessments before being transferred to hospital.

McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie impressed by taking sixth place in the final session ahead of FS-3 Racing Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan and his Yamaha teammate Josh Brookes.

Buildbase Suzuki’s Richard Cooper ended the third session in ninth place as Sylvain Barrier rounded out the top 10 for Smiths Racing BMW.
