Jake Dixon has slashed Leon Haslam’s Bennetts British Superbike championship lead to 31 points with an flawless double victory at Oulton Park at the start of the Showdown.

The RAF Regular and Reserve Kawasaki rider produced a flawless lights-to-flag victory in race two charging clear from pole position to build an early lead with Haslam down in fourth place.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider fought his way past Michael Laverty and Jason O’Halloran to reach second place by the end of lap seven to start his hunt of Dixon.

Despite cutting down Dixon’s lead lap by lap, he was unable to bridge the 1.2-second gap into the final lap to see his BSB title rival double up for the first time this year.

As a result, Dixon takes 14 points out from Haslam’s initial lead going into the BSB Showdown with a 31-point gap with two rounds remaining.

With Haslam settling for second, Showdown spoiler Tommy Bridewell doubled up his podium effort for Moto Rapido Ducati comfortably ahead of a charging trio of McAMS Yamaha pair Tarran Mackenzie, Josh Brookes and Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin.

With O’Halloran, Laverty and Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray crashing out of the lead group, Luke Mossey grabbed seventh place for JG Speedfit Kawasaki ahead of BSB Showdown contender Peter Hickman on the Smiths Racing BMW.

Despite a poor start from the front row, Andrew Irwin recovered to take ninth place for Be Wiser Ducati in front of James Ellison (Anvil Hire Yamaha) and Dan Linfoot (Honda).

Dean Harrison grabbed points in 12th for Silicone Engineering Racing Kawasaki with Mason Law (Team WD-40 Kawasaki), Gino Rea (OMG Suzuki) and Fraser Rodgers (Gearlink Kawasaki) rounding out the points – with Shaun Winfield the only finisher to miss the points in 16th for Anvil Hire Yamaha.
