Lando Norris dominated European F3 at the first attempt, claiming nine race wins and eight pole positions from 30 races en route to sealing a rookie title with Carlin. A second-place finish at the Macau Grand Prix rounded off a remarkable 2017 for the McLaren protege.

His stellar campaign, coupled with a string of impressive performances in F1 test outings with McLaren, persuaded the Woking-based outfit to promote the Briton to the position of reserve driver for 2018, a role Norris will carry out alongside a maiden year in F2.

Norris, who also impressed on his sportscar debut at Daytona in January, will once again link up with the Carlin squad that guided him to two of his five single-seater championship titles thus far.

Stiff competition from fellow British frontrunners George Russell and Jack Aitken, as well as the might of F2 powerhouses Prema, Russian Time and DAMS, will see the 18-year-old face his biggest task to date.
