"I don't have time to worry about how I'm perceived. It's not important what others think of me. It's what I think of myself that counts and I'm happy with who I am."

He added: "My biggest expenditure (now) is probably going out for meals. I pretty much eat out every night. Before it was just me and my dad and plates of canned spaghetti."

"The thing I like most is an air-hockey table that I bought for ?500 and a talking Winnie the Pooh, which is now my lucky mascot."

Of mixing with the famous and meeting ex-Beatle singer George Harrison he said: "I did not know who George was. I had heard of him, of course, but did not know what he looked like. He was a top bloke. Not a bad singer either!"
