Patrick Head has said that he will be startled if 1999 Champ Car series champion Juan Pablo Montoya beats Ralf Schumacher over the entire 2001 season.

Head told BBC Sport: "We know Ralf is a class act in F1, and it would surprise me if Juan Pablo finished ahead of him (at the end of) his first season, but we know Juan Pablo is Class A material."

He added: "They will probably bump into each other, but if it happens more than once, it's going to be a worry. We like to have two drivers at the same level. It is inevitably leads to a battle because they know that to do well they've got to beat each other."

Williams' Chief Aerodynamicist Geoff Willis continued: "Ralf and Juan Pablo are bonding well, but you do get the impression with Juan Pablo that if you're in the way of where he wants to go, he'll come straight through."
