Spanish development welcomed.

The Barcelona grand prix venue seems to change with each passing visit from the Formula One circus but, despite appearing at times like another Spanish building site, the work is being welcomed.

There are seven new grandstands at the Circuit de Catalunya this season, plus a huge new scoreboard sponsored by the La Caixa bank. More grandstands are planned for next year, when the whole startline grandstand complex will be doubled in size with the addition of a second storey.

The work is part of an on-going development which is much appreciated by Bernie Ecclestone and Formula One as a whole. While the country is fixated with motorcycle racing, the circuit is making a major effort to attract attention to the car scene too, and the work being carried out is seen as a major draw for potential fans.

The Spanish Grand Prix organisers are proving themselves to be forward thinking in every department, too, and have already announced the prices for grandstands at next year's event.
