Briatore to ride to the rescue of Prost GP?

Renault boss Flavio Briatore could be about to save Prost Grand Prix according to reports in the British press.

The Guardian notes that: 'F1 insiders' are predicting that, "he might revive his proposed takeover of the Prost team, which was originally anticipated in the summer".

The main difficulty though could be Renault as Briatore has a deal to be team boss at the French team for the next two to three years.

Briatore who sold Prost Grand Prix - then Ligier - to Alain Prost back in 1997 is known to have had a blazing row this week during a Renault briefing. Briatore's position at the team has been the subject of some debate for a number of month's and it has been rumoured that he could be forced out of the French outfit as they don't want an Italian at the head of the team.

Briatore told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday last week: "The president of Renault Sport, Patrick Faure, clarified some time ago that there are no problems."

"The French will have to put up with me for another three years and I have no intention of letting go. I am an integral part of Renault."

How 'integral' may be revealed in the coming weeks or months....
