JPM, who was also fined ?1000, was driving his BMW 4x4 when the incident occurred, he was going 204 kph, while the limit is 130.

A letter read out in court on behalf of the Colombian, according to Reuters said: "In future, my behaviour as a private road-user will be exemplary."

The ban does not affect the two times Grand Prix winner in any other country, nor does it affect his F1 super licence.

Montoya, who won the Monaco GP earlier this month, has scored 31 points this year, and is joint fifth in the drivers' series.
