An auction of WilliamsF1 cars, related collectibles and memorabilia - scheduled to take place on December 14 at the team's headquarters in Grove, Oxfordshire - has been halted after a mystery private collector, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought the entire collection for a substantial undisclosed sum.

"I would like to thank Bonhams for securing this sale," said WilliamsF1's founder and principal, Sir Frank Williams. "I am delighted with this outcome against the background of interest in other recent Formula One auctions. As much as securing an important sale, I am also thrilled that there is plenty of interest in Williams which has enabled us to sell every last item in the catalogue."

The view and auction days, scheduled for December 13 and 14, will now be replaced by open days, providing disappointed would-be bidders, catalogue holders and enthusiasts with the unique opportunity to visit the nine-times Formula One Constructors' World Champion team's stunning in-house museum.

The open days, Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14, will run from 10am to 4pm each day. Admission will remain by catalogue only.
