Formula 1 fans in Britain will have a unique opportunity this coming weekend as they will be able to watch the British Grand Prix, the ninth round in the 2007 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, live and uninterrupted at their local cinema for the very first time.

Several cinemas up and down the country will be showing the grand prix at Silverstone, including one in Covent Garden, as well as one in Cardiff, Southampton, Norwich, Manchester and others.

Plans are also in place to screen the remaining races this season too.

"For all Formula one fans around the United Kingdom this is the day you have been waiting for: the excitement of watching Lewis Hamilton on a HD Quality and Dolby Digital 5:1 Surround Sound Screen, without commercials and a totally unique live feed," read a statement to the media.

"You can now watch all Formula 1 races in the comfort of an air-conditioned auditorium with other F1 supporters. The next generation is here."
