Nordic bubbling back on home soil.

Round eight of the FIA F3000 International Championship marks the return of the Coca-Cola Nordic Racing team to more familiar ground after spending the early months of the season on the road.

For the British team, based at Thetford in Norfolk, Silverstone is its 'home' grand prix, and the importance of the occasion has not been lost on the drivers, especially Justin Wilson. For the young Yorkshireman, who still leads the championship going into the Silverstone round, this could now be classed also as his local circuit.

"I moved into the Silverstone area several weeks ago, so this is like a second home to me now," he explained, "Being British, the grand prix weekend means a great deal to me, and it is my main ambition to win in front of the home crowd this coming weekend. I have a good knowledge of the circuit, but then again so do several other drivers. The important thing, yet again, is qualifying and I am determined to be at the top of the times as quickly as possible."

With a 100 per cent podium appearance record, Nordic Racing team has every confidence that both its drivers, Wilson and Tomas Enge, will be at the sharp end of the grid for round eight.

"We went well at Silverstone during our test in March earlier this year, and Justin finished on the podium there last year, so we are quietly confident that he can do at least the same again," revealed team manager Chris Mower, "It is an important race for us because the top three are so close in the drivers' championship - whoever finishes in the front of the trio will probably be leading the championship going to Hockenheim"

After the 2000 event, run in April as opposed to the more usual July date, no-one at the team is prepared to predict the outcome of the weekend, however.

"It is our aim to go into the Silverstone weekend prepared for all eventualities," team principal Derek Mower pointed out, "The weather can play a significant role in the outcome of the race, both drivers are ready and I am sure they will be totally committed and somewhere at the front."
