Viso set for Carlin DPR test.

Carlin DPR has confirmed that Venezuelan driver Ernesto Viso will join the team for the final GP2 test of 2006 in Valencia later this week.

The 21-year-old finished sixth in the GP2 standings this season on the back of a campaign that saw him take wins at Imola and Catalunya while driving for the iSport team and went on to act as third driver for the Spyker Formula One team at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Viso will be reunited with his former F3 boss Roly Vincini, who has been appointed as chief race engineer with the Carlin DPR team - formed earlier this week after the Carlin and David Price Racing teams elected to join forces for the new campaign.

Vincini brings a wealth of experience to Carlin DPR and will further strengthen the existing technical team, having run his own P1 Motorsport team in the British F3 series and playing a vital role in Alx Danielsson claiming the 2006 World Series by Renault driver's title for Comtec.

His new role will take him back to his old workplace at the former Brabham F1 factory at Chessington, which forms the new base for the Carlin DPR team.

"The entire team is excited at the prospect of taking part in its first GP2 test and I'm delighted that Roly and Ernesto will be joining us," team boss Trevor Carlin said. "They have worked so well together in F3 that I'm sure they will help us in achieving a successful first test.

"Although we are still in the early stages of preparing for next season, Roly will be a central figure and I'm confident that he will mould the best possible technical team around him."
