As expected, Trust Team Arden has confirmed that Yelmer Buurman will partner Sebastien Buemi for the 2008 GP2 season.

Buurman, who tested for the team in Dubai at the weekend as preparations continue for the start of the new GP2 Asia series, will make the move to GP2 having finished sixth in the F3 Euroseries last year while driving for Manor Motorsport.

The Dutch driver has agreed a two-year deal with the team and admitted he couldn't wait for the season to start - with his aim set on fighting near the front throughout the year.

"I am very happy that Trust Team Arden has chosen me as their race driver," he said. "I am grateful to Christian Horner and Michel Perridon for this chance and I like to thank our new sponsors Riwal and Argos Oil for their support.

"Trust Team Arden is a famous team with a proven track record and a lot of fans in Holland. The test in Dubai went quite well although we could have ended higher in the rankings. I am confident that I can help the team forward and I will do everything to surprise our competitors. I will be very disappointed it we are not a frequent podium visitor in 2008."

Managing director Christian Horner said Buurman had been the obvious choice to partner Red Bull Racing test driver Buemi for the 2008 campaign and said he was confident that he would produce the goods for the team.

"Following two very productive days testing in Dubai, the team are pleased to announce Yelmer Buurman is the partner of Sebastien Buemi in the 2008 GP2 Championship," he said. "After careful consideration, Yelmer emerged as the obvious candidate for Trust Team Arden. After following his progress with interest through European Formula Three, I am certain that Yelmer can look forward to a strong season in GP2."
