Pedro Acosta has been perhaps Marquez's biggest challenger this weekend but he starts seventh after a Q2 crash on his first run. It will be tough to cut through from there but a start like he made from seventh in Austria last week would help that.
Fermin Aldeguer starts alongside his fellow Murcian in eighth and has also shown strong pace this weekend.
Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio complete the front row in Balaton.
Both came through Q1 and perhaps benefitted from the extra track time on the new circuit.
Bezzecchi will be looking for his first Sprint podium since Sachsenring this afternoon. Di Giannantonio hasn't been on a Saturday podium since Silverstone.
Riders are heading around to the grid on their sighting lap now. Just under 20 minutes to the Sprint start.
Quite a contrast inside the Ducati Lenovo box at the moment. Even Davide Tardozzi confessed his unhappiness with Bagnaia's P5 in Q1 this morning that leaves him 15th on the grid this afternoon.
It looks set to be a long race for Bagnaia and it's pretty hard to see him scoring points, really, given how tough it seems to pass in Balaton.
Marc Marquez starts from pole position for today's Sprint. It was his eighth pole of the season this morning, and he is chasing his seventh straight Sprint win this afternoon.
Welcome back to live coverage of today's MotoGP action from Balaton Park. The Sprint will be coming up in just under 30 minutes at 15:00 local time.
Marc Marquez takes pole position in Hungary.
Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio complete the front row.
Bastianini, Morbidelli, Quartararo on row two.
Acosta, Aldeguer, Marini row three.
Mir, Alex Marquez, Espargaro row four.
Alex Marquez will start 14th tomorrow with his penalty.
A final improvement for Marquez over the line - 1:36.518 to extend his advantage over P2 Bezzecchi to 0.290s.
Pol Espargaro has gone down at turn 8 it looks like.
Big mistake for Alex Marquez coming through the long left hander before the last chicane and he doesn't improve on his latest lap. He's 11th for now.
Aldeguer only P8 with his latest lap and he runs on at turn one of the next lap, so he's done.
Quartararo goes P5 with his latest lap, just been bumped to sixth behind Bastianini and Morbidelli on row two provisionally.
Acosta improves on his second lap - P5. Di Giannantonio P3 again and into the 1:36s.
Bezzecchi over the line for his first representative lap and he goes P2 on a 1:36.808 which is 0.008s slower than his Q1 best. Solid salvage from the Italian.
Acosta 10th with his first lap, Di Giannantonio goes 37.1 to go third just behind him.
Bezzecchi makes another mistake on the first lap of his second run. He was messy out of turn four and then he runs on into the gravel at turn five. Still no lap time from him yet.
Acosta out for his second run on his spare bike now. He's behind Di Giannantonio on-track, the Italian currently P7 after his first run.
Marquez improves on his second lap, 1:36.646, that beats Bezzecchi's Q1 best by 0.154s.
Bastianini also into the 1:36s and into P2.
Mir onto the front row in third, albeit 0.593s off pole.
Marini P6 as well at the moment.
Aldeguer gets his first lap in and goes second with a 1:37.302.
Big moment for Bezzecchi in braking for the final chicane and he's through the gracel.
He's one of four riders still without a lap time along with Acosta - who has just got back to the KTM box - Aldeguer, and Quartararo.
Marquez runs off the track at turn four and that's his second lap gone. Still fastest for the moment, of course.
Marc Marquez sets the initial benchmark at a 1:36.822.
Pedro Acosta has crashed on his opening lap. He's running to find a way back to the pits. He's dropped it at turn eight, more or less the only fast corner on the track.
