2025 Hungarian MotoGP: Sprint LIVE UPDATES

Live coverage of Sprint from the Hungarian MotoGP at Balaton Park.

Qualifying for the 2025 Hungarian MotoGP is set to get underway at 10:50 local time. The Sprint will be coming up later this afternoon at 15:00 local time.

Pedro Acosta was the fastest rider on Friday, beating Marc Marquez by 0.006s despite a late crash at turn two.

Marquez overturned that on Saturday morning to take his eighth pole of the 2025 season so far.

Acosta, in comparison, under-performed in qualifying, taking seventh after a crash on his first Q2 run.

Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio both came through Q2 to qualify on the front row - Bezzecchi second and Di Giannantonio third.

Enea Bastianini is the best of the KTMs in fourth; Fabio Quartararo is the best Yamaha in sixth and the only one in the top-10. The best Honda on the grid is Luca Marini in ninth, while Joan Mir is 10th.

Francesco Bagnaia continued to struggle in qualifying and was only fifth-fastest in Q1. He will start 15th this afternoon.

Alex Marquez also had a difficult qualifying and will start 11th. He has a 55-point lead over Bagnaia in the battle for second in the standings, and is 142 points behind Marc Marquez.

Marquez back out to 2.5s over Di Giannantonio.

Morbidelli less than a second behind his teammate.

Marini, Aldeguer, Mir, Bezzecchi all still in-line behind.

Alex Marquez and Jorge Martin rounding out the points with 2 to go.

14:19
Lap 10/13

Marini has stabilised to Aldeguer, but can't quite get to Morbidelli yet.

Mir and Bezzecchi are still there behind Aldeguer, too. Just, too hard to pass here with the short straights and one-line corners.

Lap 9/13

Marquez's lead down to 2s now. 4 to go. Have seen a slide here and there for him, but he should be safe.

Still the same order behind him.

14:16
Marini vs Aldeguer

Marini makes a mistake at turn one and that brings Aldeguer right to his rear wheel.

14:14
Lap 7/13

Marquez now 2.5s clear of the field.

Di Giannantonio with a 1.5s lead over Morbidelli.

Third crash of the weekend for Acosta.

Marquez a second clear of Di Giannantonio. Morbidelli just over a second further back of his teammate.

Marini still holding fourth ahead of Aldeguer although the Gresini rider is still right there.

Further back, Acosta is in 11th having just failed a pass at turn one on Martin.

Alex Marquez running ninth having failed a pass on Espargaro.

14:09

Binder has entered the pits and now has exited. World feed reporting he had front fairing damage. That's been repaired and he's gone back out.

Mir went wide at turn five trying to pass Marini and he's dropped behind Aldeguer as a result.

14:08
Lap 3/13

Among the chaos, it's Marquez continuing to lead. Almost a second clear of Di Giannantonio now.

Morbidelli still third, then Marini hanging onto fourth ahead of Mir.

Aldeguer than sixth ahead of Bezzecchi, who has cleared Espargaro for seventh.

14:06

TV replay shows Quartararo braking much later than those around him. Obviously, starting 6th, he was on the inside and just had nowhere to go once he made the mistake.

Bastianini cleaned out Zarco in their turn nine incident. He was trying to pass Rins, and then effectively t-boned Zarco's rear end, who was in front of the Yamaha rider.

Warm-up lap

Warm-up lap is underway in Balaton Park ahead of the 13-lap Sprint.

Alex Marquez

It was a tough qualifying for Alex Marquez in 11th. Another rider who has to do some overtaking.

He starts 11th today but will be 14th tomorrow for a grid penalty. He at least starts ahead of Bagnaia in their battle for second in the standings (which could soon be joined by Bezzecchi at this rate), but tough to see Marquez being back on a Sprint podium today.

Tyres, conditions

Pretty cool conditions today: 23C air temperature, 39C track.

Everyone on medium-compound front tyre, soft-compound rear.

13:50
Acosta & Aldeguer from row three

Pedro Acosta has been perhaps Marquez's biggest challenger this weekend but he starts seventh after a Q2 crash on his first run. It will be tough to cut through from there but a start like he made from seventh in Austria last week would help that.

Fermin Aldeguer starts alongside his fellow Murcian in eighth and has also shown strong pace this weekend.

13:47
Bezzecchi, Di Giannantonio on the front row

Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio complete the front row in Balaton.

Both came through Q1 and perhaps benefitted from the extra track time on the new circuit.

Bezzecchi will be looking for his first Sprint podium since Sachsenring this afternoon. Di Giannantonio hasn't been on a Saturday podium since Silverstone.
