Nico Terol, whose 125cc World Championship lead has been slashed from 32 to 12 points after a technical problem at Brno, quashed any signs of weakness by romping to his sixth pole of the season at Indianapolis on Saturday.

The Aspar Aprilia rider finished a massive 0.720sec clear of Sandro Cortese, who took his first win at Brno, with Terol's nearest title challenger Johann Zarco 0.740sec behind to complete the front row.

Race-winning rookie Maverick Vinales was the final rider within one-second of pole, with Englishman Danny Kent an excellent fifth on the grid for Red Bull Ajo Aprilia.
