Malaysia is set to celebrate its 25th MotoGP race in style next month at the Sepang International Circuit, which will host the penultimate round of the 2015 world championship.

In 1991 the country hosted its maiden international motorcycle race at the Shah Alam circuit before switching to Sepang in 1999. The event has gone from strength to strength in recent seasons and is expected to attract even more fans this year, which runs on the 23-25 October.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the event a special launch was held in Kula Lumpur with Dato' Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali, CEO of Sepang, Tuan Haji Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading, Leslie Ng, Shell Lubricants General Manager for Malaysia and Singapore and Iskandar Mirza Mohd Yusof, Marketing Director for Domestic Tourism, Tourism Malaysia.

"This is a very special year for the Malaysia MotoGP as it marks the 25th anniversary of the event, from 1991 at the Batu Tiga Circuit in Shah Alam to its move to Sepang International Circuit in 1999 until now," Dato' Razlan said. "It was the first major international motorsports event to be held at the Sepang Circuit and is the longest running international motorsports event hosted in Malaysia.

"The Malaysia MotoGP also continues to excite fans, as we can see by the consistent growth in attendance. In the last five years, we recorded more than 120,000 fans over three days annually from 2010 to 2014. This year, fans can expect exciting activities to mark the silver anniversary of this race."

Malaysia is also enjoying success on the track with local team Drive M7 SIC Racing Team as Jakub Kornfeil grabbed a maiden podium finish in Moto3 at the British MotoGP in August while team-mate Zulfahmi Khairuddin also collected points.

"This is history in the making, as the Drive M7 SIC Racing Team is now not only SIC's first ever team in the world championship," Dato' Razlan said. "We hope to see more exciting results in the upcoming races, especially at Sepang as they are spurred by the power of Malaysian fan support."

The Mega Moto Carnival which has over 100 booths to explore, will run alongside the Malaysian MotoGP with a MotoGP wall of fame, exclusive merchandise and a number of activities and attractions celebrating the 25 years. During race week a new pre-event MotoGP anniversary party will also be hosted which is for invitations only and aspire to be the party of the year.

Additionally, Shell Malaysia has also launched a one-off special edition pack of Advance Ultra with PurePlus technology. The limited edition fuel is comes in two fully synthetic viscosities and available from selected workshops, retail stations and via Sepang's website when purchasing ticket packages for the 2015 Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix.
