Crafar takes up new job in Sepang.

Having left the international arena as a rider, Simon Crafar was present at last week's Sepang test in his new capacity as an Ohlins technician.

It was a far cry from the Kiwi's finest hour when he rode into the distance at the Donington Park 500cc MotoGP race, leaving all challengers - Mick Doohan included - gobsmacked by his race pace.

Unfortunately, that victory proved to be a flash in the pan rather than the start of a World Championship challenge and Crafar left the Red Bull team in 1999 for a career in World Superbikes with Kawasaki (pictured).

His new position at suspension specialists Ohlins will however still see him return to the saddle, albeit in a development role, throughout the 2001 season.
