Vd Goorbergh left out of 2003 line-up.

Jurgen van den Goorbergh is in danger of being without a ride for the 2003 MotoGP World Championship, after the Dutchman's name was absent from the provisional entry list released today.

Vd Goorbergh had moved from Kenny Roberts' Proton team to ride what turned out to be a largely uncompetitive Kanemoto Honda NSR500 for the 2002 season, his main task being to develop new Bridgestone tyres.

However, Jurgen seemed confident of his GP future towards the end of this season, and his best result of fifth at Phillip Island - from a fabulous front row qualification - looked to have guaranteed him a HRC seat for 2003.

Honda are known to want to run a bike on Bridgestones so they can keep an eye on how well the Japanese rubber compares with the Michelin's - but the entry lists shows no sign of Erv Kanemoto's team.

It now looks like the RCV/Bridgestone combination will be in the hands of WSBK wild-card ace Makoto Tamada running under the Pramac Honda banner. It is unknown whether Kanemoto will remain within this new team.

Vd Goorbergh's only chance of a race seat in the premier class will come from the new Harris WCM machine, which hasn't named either of its two riders. Whether Jurgen will want to gamble on the ambitious, but unproven, outfit remains to be seen.
