Vinales in 'positive mood' for Valencia

Maverick Vinales insists he is in a 'very positive mood' heading into this weekend's Valencia MotoGP season finale.

After switching from Suzuki to Yamaha, Vinales dominated pre-season testing and went on to win three of this year's opening five races.

But the victories suddenly dried up and Vinales lost the points lead with a fall at round eight (Assen), where team-mate Valentino Rossi took what remains Yamaha's most recent MotoGP win.

Marc Marquez (Honda) and title rival Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) have won every race since, with Vinales now confirmed as finishing third in the world championship, whatever happens at Valencia.

"I arrive in Valencia in a very positive mood. After the last three races in Asia and Oceania I've spent some time at home, training and relaxing. The Ricardo Tormo Circuit is a track that I really like, it has a layout that suits my riding style very well.

"We expect nice weather for the entire week, so I will try to push and give my 100% to finish the season with a nice podium at the last round. We are already focused on the next season and we also want to work hard during the test next week."

The Valencia test takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
