Vinales: A very useful test in Aragon

Maverick Vinales was fastest in three of the track sessions leading up to the cancelled Silverstone MotoGP race, where he looked set to battle for what could have been a first MotoGP victory since Le Mans 2017.

Instead the Yamaha losing streak remains at 21-races. But Vinales was boosted by his Silverstone pace, which followed a set-up and electronic work during a private test at Misano, then made further steps in last week's Aragon test.

Indeed, Vinales feels he is regaining the feeling from the start of last season, where he won three out of five races.

"Unfortunately, due to the bad weather conditions we couldn't race at Silverstone and that was a pity because I felt very good on the bike and very fast during all the practices," Vinales said.

"Now we will arrive at Misano after a very useful test in Aragon where we kept working on finding the best set-up for my riding style. We are very motivated, because I can feel that we are working in the right direction again.

"I'm starting to have the same feeling on my M1 as I had last year at the beginning of the season and that gives me a sense of calm and allows me to focus on continuing to get points in each race.

"It's very positive that we were able to give a good performance in the test at the Misano track some weeks ago. We improved a lot of things on the set-up, so I will try to give my 100%, as always, to bring the long-awaited victory for Yamaha."

Vinales - on pole at Misano one year ago, before rain arrived on race day - is currently fifth in the world championship.
