Fabio di Giannantonio and Marc Marquez top a damp Qualifying 1 for the Italian MotoGP at Mugello and will now aim to exploit their track knowledge in the Q2 pole position shootout, where they will join the ten fastest riders after third practice.
Brad Binder was first to try slicks, with the others switching over from wets after seeing the KTM rider blast to the top by three-seconds at the midway stage of the 15-minutes.
The arrival of more light rain raised the tension, but didn't stop Binder's best lap time being hunted down and passed.
Marc Marquez shadowed Jack Miller for much of the closing stages on his way to the top. But 50m behind them, rookie di Giannantonio shocked by beating them both.
In the past, Miller has said he isn't troubled by Marquez seeking a tow, but it clearly cost the Australian a place in Qualifying 2 this afternoon...
