With the second leg of the MotoGP triple-header complete, the latest round of rider ratings sees Marc Marquez joined by some surprise names at the top of the scores.

The Repsol Honda rider produced another dramatic victory with a final lap overtake on Maverick Vinales at Phillip Island to further cement his domination against his rivals.

Marquez’s win also pushes Repsol Honda to within one point of Ducati in the MotoGP teams’ title fight, with the Spanish rider looking to secure a 2019 Triple Crown having already wrapped up the riders’ and constructors’ world championships.

The 26-year-old has company for the top scores with Australian home hero Jack Miller after he secured a shock podium, following Vinales crashing on the last lap battling Marquez, plus standout performances from Suzuki rookie Joan Mir, Pramac Ducati youngster Francesco Bagnaia and Aprilia’s Andrea Iannone.

At the other end of the scale it was another nightmare race for Jorge Lorenzo as he finished in last place and over one minute behind Repsol Honda team-mate Marquez.

It was also another poor showing by Danilo Petrucci for Ducati as he high-sided off on the opening lap, inadvertently and accidentally taking out Fabio Quartararo who was on his outside.

Meanwhile, Johann Zarco quietly impressed on his LCR Honda debut having been axed by KTM earlier this season.

The MotoGP action continues this weekend as the paddock heads to Malaysia for the final round of the triple-header at Sepang which hosts the penultimate round of the 2019 world championship.
