Kyle Petty will take the wheel of his late son Adam's car when the Busch Grand National series visits Dover this weekend. Adam was killed in a practice crash at New Hampshire three weeks ago and his father has not raced since.

Kyle participate in Saturday's Busch race in the #45 Sprint PCS Chevrolet and then revert to his regular mount for Sunday's Winston Cup event at the 'Monster Mile'. Kyle has been out of action since his son's crash , which was attributed to a sticking throttle. He chose not to participate in 'The Winston Sprint' and gave his Winston Cup ride to Steve Grissom for the Coca Cola 600 last weekend.

Kyle, Adam and John Andretti were due to team up next year at Petty Enterprises in a three car team of Dodge Intrepid's. It is unclear if the team will choose to find a replacement or simply run a two car outfit.

Kyle has not been confirmed as the driver of Adam's car for the remainder of the season although it is unlikely that he will want another driver taking over his son's machine. Kyle may continue to drive the machine for the remainder of the year to satisfy sponsor commitments or the car may be turned over to another Petty Enterprises contracted driver.
