Two in a row for Jarrett in Atlanta.

For the second year in succession Dale Jarrett secured pole position for the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway as he topped the lap-charts for the second time in four races.

Dale Jarrett scored his second pole position of the 2001 season and his first at the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway as he outran last week's winner at Las Vegas, Jeff Gordon in a time of 28.763 seconds in Bud Pole Qualifying for the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500.

In a highly emotional weekend for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, racing an event won by the late Dale Earnhardt last year, Jarrett's No.88 UPS Roush Racing Ford Taurus was less than a tenth faster than Gordon's No.24 DuPont Chevrolet that sat on pole position for the season ending NAPA 500 last November.

Todd Bodine continued his fine Las Vegas form with third place in the No.66 Route 66/Big Kmart Ford while Mark Martin completes the second row in the best of the Roush Racing Ford's.

Kevin Harvick secured his first top five qualifying effort in Winston Cup competition in just his third start for Richard Childress Racing with Jeremy Mayfield, Dave Blaney in the quickest of the Dodge's, Jimmy Spencer, Rusty Wallace and Michael Waltrip completing the top ten.

Current points leader Sterling Marlin will start 12th, one place ahead of last year's NAPA 500 winner Jerry Nadeau while reigning NWC Champion Bobby Labonte could not find a suitable set-up and struggled to 34th.
