One of motorsport's greatest names will appear on the entry list for a junior stock car event this weekend, as Christian Fittipaldi swaps the open air of his Newman-Haas Champcar for the confined cockpit of a NASCAR Busch machine.

While the majority of his compatriots travel to Sao Paulo for the annual kart marathon, CART star Christian Fittipaldi will be getting a first taste of stock car competition, courtesy of a run-out in the Busch Grand National event at Homestead, near Miami. The Brazilian will attempt to qualify for the race, held just 45 minutes from his Florida home on Saturday, when he pilots a Mike's Hard Lemonade-sponsored Chevrolet for the event.

"This is very exciting for me and I hope to be well received by those in NASCAR," Fittipaldi, said, "I have long admired their racing and welcome an opportunity to be a part of it."

Should he make the cut, Fittipaldi will follow motorsports legend Mario Andretti into the history books as the second driver to have contested Formula One, Champcar and stock car racing.
