Jimmie Johnson, the rookie sensation selected by Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick to drive the new No. 48 Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse Chevrolet Monte Carlo, is getting set for his inaugural season in NASCAR Winston Cup by taking a hint from his sponsor.

In order to help himself get in the winning frame of mind right from the word 'go' in 2002, the 26-year-old Southern California native has been spending the off-season travelling, working out and renovating his new home on Lake Norman in Charlotte. His sponsor for the 2002 season, is probably providing all the necessary tools for free.

While the No. 48 Lowe's Monte Carlo competed in three Winston Cup events in 2001, Jimmie Johnson used the experience to learn the tracks, get comfortable in the car and gain some confidence competing at NASCAR's highest level. Now, he's ready to prove that he has the tools with his new team to be competitive, run up front and take the No. 48 Lowe's Monte Carlo to victory lane.

And he'll have somewhere nice to sit back and enjoy his success but it is not known whether or not Johnson's DIY exploits will earn him a place with the Steve Saleen/Tim Allen (of 'Home Improvement/Tool Time fame) owned Saleen Sportscar squad.
