Benson to use Eagle One scheme at Richmond.

When the green flag falls at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday evening May 3rd, Johnny Benson plans to fly his new Eagle One Wax-As-U-Dry paint scheme to the front of the field around the classic three-quarter-mile D-shaped oval.

Richmond's May night race is a favourite among the NASCAR Winston Cup fans as well as the driver of the #10 Valvoline Pontiac even though it was during the spring Richmond weekend that Benson's 2002 season began to come unstuck.

Richmond's May night race is a favourite among the NASCAR Winston Cup fans as well as the driver of the #10 Valvoline Pontiac even though it was during the spring Richmond weekend that Benson's 2002 season began to come unstuck.

"Richmond is one of our most exciting races of the year and I think the folks at Valvoline and Eagle One picked a pretty good race to run the Wax-As-U-Dry paint scheme," Benson said. "They say Wax-As-U-Dry saves time and effort and that's good news for me because it's normally hard work getting around that track."

"We put the focus of the primetime Saturday night race on Eagle One's hottest selling product," said Bob Craycraft, vice president and general manager of Valvoline's Eagle One business unit. "The rest is up to Johnny."

Last season Benson didn't even see the green flag of the Pontiac Excitement 400 having injured his ribs in a Busch Series accident the previous evening. Now fully recovered Benson and his #10 MBV Motorsports Valvoline crew have made a promising start to the 2003 season with the brand new Pontiac Grand Prix model. After six rounds of the 2003 Championship Benson sits 13th in points and even though the Grand Rapids, Michigan native has yet to score his first top-ten finish, in a season where consistency pays big dividends, just a single sub top-20 finish is a very good sign.

Valvoline's Eagle One brand includes premium waxes, polishes and cleaners.
