Atwood to make Cup comeback.

Casey Atwood, a driver once touted as the future of Evernham Motorsports before finding himself virtually out of the spot whilst still in his mid 20's, will attempt to qualify for the season ending Ford 400 with the Brewco Motorsports team.

26-year old Atwood made 75 Cup Series starts between 2000 and 2003 and was one of Evernham's first drivers when Evernham Motorsports was formed in 2000. However after just one year in the #19 Dodge and another with the uncompetitive Ultra Motorsports team Atwood was out of a full time drive at the end of 2002.

Since then he has made just two Cup starts, both with a third Evernham team in 2003, and began 2005 with no ride at all after a disappointing year with the FitzBradshaw Busch Series outfit in 2004.

With his once promising career all but over, Atwood was picked up by veteran Busch team Brewco in September and has run the last four races with them with a best finish of 17th.

That relationship will now expand into the Cup Series for the 2006 season finale at the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Brewco will attempt to qualify for just their second ever Cup Series race.
