Somerset's amazing injury jinx has struck again with the news that reserve Simon Dyminski is likely to be out for six weeks. He suffered a broken ankle when riding for his parent club Swindon in a Conference meeting at Mildenhall.
Reading defeated by Islanders.
Reading Racers put in a spirited performance, but it wasn't enough to stop them going down 46-44 to Isle of Wight Islanders at Smallmead Stadium last night.

Wagstaff 'so proud' of Pedersen.
Oxford's Nicki Pedersen has had a triumphant weekend to reaffirm himself as Oxford's top rider. On Saturday evening he became only the second Oxford rider to win the British Speedway Grand Prix at the splendid Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Sheffield's fast-rising reserve Ricky Ashworth preserved his club's five year unbeaten home record in a remarkable solo performance against the Isle of Wight this evening. The Islanders being the last team to win at Sheffield but that was in 1998.

Benfield Sports International (BSI) rights holders of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) announced today a new four year contract with Millennium Stadium Plc to host the FIM British Speedway Grand Prix until 2006 (inclusive).

Rising Polish star Krzysztof Cegielski will miss this weekend's British Grand Prix - and possibly the rest of the season - after crashing out of a league event in Sweden.

Reading Racers take a break from racing on Monday night (9th June), and let the Reading Ravens take to the Smallmead track for a rare appearance. The Ravens will take on the Swindon Sprockets in a Conference League Challenge match - racing starts as normal at 7.30pm.

Trelawny's in-form Emiliano Sanchez joined the club casualty list when he suffered a suspected broken wrist in Wednesday's Premier League defeat at King's Lynn.

Following their breathtaking 47-43 success at Sheffield, Swindon Pro-Fit Sprockets have agreed to race in a challenge match at Reading on Monday 9 June.

Edinburgh Monarchs inflicted Reading's first home Premier League defeat of the season, when they beat the Racers 50-40 at Smallmead Stadium on Monday night. The visitors took the lead in the opening heat, and were never headed after that.

Stuart Robson is battling to be fit to take his place in the Coventry team for Saturday's British League Cup trip to Premier League Stoke. Robson damaged ankle ligaments when he crashed doubling-down for Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday night.

Grand Prix of Sweden: Sullivan supreme.
Ryan Sullivan - broken collarbone and all - rode superbly all night long and in particular when it mattered most to win the Grand Prix of Sweden in Avesta this evening. Lukas Dryml was second with Leigh Adams third.
Barney's back!
Ian Barney has agreed to make a track return in Peterborough's British League Cup meetings. Barney has been coaching the club's youngsters but his experience will boost the Panthers in the new competition.
Double injury blow for reigning champs.
Premier League champions Sheffield have been hit by a double injury blow to Scott Smith and Ben Wilson. Wilson crashed heavily in the 48 - 41 cup win at Hull last night and has a groin problem, whilst Smith has had stitches in his hand after a workshop incident.

The EdinburghMonarchs face Arena Essex Hammers at Armadale this Friday in a tough Premier League fixture, which comes in the midst of an important series of matches starting at King's Lynn on Wednesday evening.
