Wimbledon lose unbeaten home record.

The Wimbledon Dons finally surrended their unbeaten home record as bogey side Mildenhall won this pulsating Conference League encounter by the narrowest of margins last night.

In front of a large crowd, Mildenhall were well led by ex-England International Ben Howe who raced to a faultless paid maximum and gave a vintage display of team riding to help defeat the Londoners.

Wimbledon are yet to defeat the Fen Tigers since returning to the sport last year, and the visitors extended their winning sequence to the delight of their large travelling support.

With Jason Prynne suffering bike problems before his Heat 14 accident (see separate story), the GMB Dons struugled to pull clear of the visitors for whom reserve Tony Dart gave a career best performance in notching up an astonishing 15 points.

Wimbledon were indebted to recent capture Mark "Buzz" Burrows and Danny Giffard, who between them scored 25 points but a series of mishaps cost the home side dear. Firstly Peter Collyer fell when leading Heat 2 and then Dons No.1 Wayne Barrett failed to get away from the tapes four races later when on paper he was facing his easiest ride of the night.

On a positive note, James Clements gave another battling performance to record 4 paid 5 from the tough number 2 berth and is rapidly improving to the delight of everyone at Plough Lane.
