Rye House chief Len Silver has backed his top two riders Brent Werner and Nigel Sadler to come good from a slump in form which has hamstrung their seasons so far.

Young Brits progress in Under-21 championship.
Poole staged a qualifying round of the World Under-21 Championship last night which saw a quartet of young British speedway talent through to the semi-finals of the competition.
Venue changed forced for Swedish GP.
Benfield Sports International (BSI) today announced they have been forced to change the venue of the FIM Meridian Lifts Swedish Speedway Grand Prix on 31 May from the Olympic Stadium, Stockholm, to the Avesta Stadium, Brovallen, Sweden.

Kessler crocked.
Stoke have been hit by the news that Robbie Kessler has suffered a broken arm during a Swedish League meeting. Hull skipper Garry Stead has already been booked as a guest replacement for the meeting with Rye House at Loomer Road on Saturday.

Aces axe Larsen.
Belle Vue have parted company with Californian Josh Larsen and are looking for a replacement. Larsen is back in his home country and Aces boss John Perrin is angry about speculation that he still owes the rider money.
Arena juggle fixture diary.
The Arena-Essex Hammers are at present re-arranging several fixtures following the postponement of three home matches at Purfleet in the first two months of the season due to the weather.
Aussie duo arrive in deepest Wales.
Carmarthen Dragons have been handed a double boost with the arrival of Aussie duo Corey Blackman and Ben Powell. The Conference League club have been looking to strengthen their side after a disappointing start to the season.
Berwick to re-stage "Stars" meeting if possible.
Berwick speedway's attempt to stage the "Stars of Tomorrow" Junior Championship fell victim to the foul May weather with the Shielfield Park track became totally waterlogged after two days of heavy rain including flash-floods on Saturday morning.

Potential Long Eaton owners to pour over plans
The promotional duo behind plans to bring Long Eaton speedway back from the dead - Nigel Wordsworth and John Bailey have been invited by the stadium site's potential new owners to look over amended plans.
Pedersen: I would have lost it.
Oxford's Nicki Pedersen has made almost the best possible start to his 2003 Grand Prix campaign by beating all the odds and finishing second. Pedersen, who won at the Slaski last year, fought back from a tough start to claim second place.

Rickardsson dedicates victory to Blomfeldt.
Tony Rickardsson launched the defence of his world title in style by winning the European Grand Prix in Poland last night. And he immediately dedicated his success to his popular engine tuner who is set to undergo major heart surgery.

Wednesday 28th May 2003 marks the 75th anniversary of the first ever speedway meeting at the prestigious Wimbledon Stadium.

The Fulfilment Factory Monarchs make their bow in the 2003 Premier Knockout Cup this Friday when King's Lynn come to Armadale for the first time. The Stars have made an exceptional start, sitting at the top of the table.

Hull arrange special Select Team challenge.
Hull Vikings will race a specially chosen Select Team on Wednesday 28 May. This team will be made up largely of ex-Vikings and other riders popular with the Hull fans.

Bees' owner pays tribute to Ochiltree.
Coventry Bees owner Avtar Sandhu has paid tribute to the Ochiltree family following their departure from Coventry International Motor Speedway. Sandhu, who bought out Midlands Sports Stadiums last year, has confirmed that the Ochiltree family's 56-year connection with Brandon is now over.

Boocock joins Somerset promotion.
Eric Boocock has agreed to become co-promoter of Somerset alongside Andy Hewlett. Boocock will be handling much of the paperwork and track preparation and takes a much needed wealth of experience to the club.
Howe has immediate impact.
Latest signing Ben Howe certainly made a huge impacton his debut with 13 points as Mildenhall overwhelmed StokeSpitfires 36-53 at Loomer Road last Sunday.

Wagstaff statement on Oxford track criticism.
The following statement has been made by Oxford Silver Machine promoter Nigel Wagstaff after reading comments in the Speedway Star on May 3 and having had time to reflect on the Good Friday/Easter Saturday fixtures between Oxford and Coventry.
No breaks for Compton and Stead.
Both Andre Compton and Simon Stead crashed out early in last Thursday's semi-final of the British Championship with initial fears of broken bones. Later diagnosis has revealed no fractures for either rider.

Pedersen wins Danish Championship.
Oxford's Nicki Pedersen roared away to the Danish Championship at Holstead last night. He scored a perfect fifteen points from his five rides. Hans Andersen and Jesper Jensen filled the minor rostrum positions after a run-off.
