Rye House chief Len Silver has backed his top two riders Brent Werner and Nigel Sadler to come good from a slump in form which has hamstrung their seasons so far. Silver's support follows a string of defeats for the Hertfordshire club both home and away where the points return from the heat leaders has been called into question.

And the problems were drastically exposed with the home and away clashes with Stoke when already missing influential reserve Edward Kennett, the Rockets had no answer to the Potters top-end strength. But Silver remains optimistic that his team can ride through this present slump and in the process become a real threat.

He said: "Everyone at the club was disappointed with the results over the weekend. Nobody likes to be beaten by big scores and the home defeat to Stoke was particularly painful. It is always disappointing when you lose meetings like that but I am not going to start panicking about the team line up."
