Howe has immediate impact.

Latest signing Ben Howe certainly made a huge impacton his debut with 13 points as Mildenhall overwhelmed StokeSpitfires 36-53 at Loomer Road last Sunday.

The vastly experienced 28 year old, who has joined onloan from Ipswich, looked quite nervous before the
start. He opened with a win in heat four, then ran twoseconds to Graham Jones before finishing with wins over Jones in heats 13, where he set a new CL track record, and 15.

"It was important to me psychologically to beat Graham before the end because he had to be the measuring stick for me" said Ben afterwards.
"I was very nervous and also quite tired because I've
only done two or three meetings so far this year and
my arms were like lead. But I got faster as the
meeting wore on and I'm quite pleased with that for anopener".

Fen Tigers general manager Graham Drury, who has madea habit of enticing big names to Mildenhall, is
adamant Howe will provide entertainment with a capital E for the West Row outfit. "Ben is a terrific racer and I honestly think he will have cult status here at West Row" praised Drury.

"He's a cracking lad with a very good style and he's
very keen to make this move work out. He was such good value at Stoke last Sunday and showed a couple of times against Graham Jones that he's a quick learner and a hard racer".

Whilst Howe top scored, the remainder of the side
scored well against one of the least experienced sides
in the CL Trophy. Lee Hodgson was unbeaten after a
first ride last, Matthew Wright chipped in with paid
eight, Tony Dart had a win and a paid win - his
victory right on the line in heat 14 was just reward
for some determined riding - after changing bikes and
Scott James looked back to something like his best
after a lean spell recently.

"I think I've been trying to change too many things at once and probably got confused" said the quietly
spoken Australian. "I've pretty much gone back to basics and it's pleasing to get three wins and 12 points in the bag. Now I can start to make gradual improvements as we go along".

Skipper Wayne Broadhurst had two wins in his paid nine and only Thomas Rowlett missed out on a big score after returning from injury. "I had a spin at Kings
Lynn last night and apart from my wrist aching, I feel
OK" he said. "I'm glad to be back in the team and I just need to get my race fitness back now".

Drury is hoping to have Daniel King back in the side
for this Sunday's home fixture against Carmarthen but the news on James Mann is much less encouraging. "There is a good chance Daniel will have recovered by Sunday and it will be good to see him and Ben Howe in action around West Row" enthused Drury.

"The news on Manny is not so good though and there is a liklihood that he will miss the rest of the season. His shoulders are very bad and he is booked in to see a specialist some time next month".
