NEWS FLASH: Almost immediately after being acknowledged as 'unmatchable' by his teammate Carlos Sainz, Colin McRae crashed out of the Rally of Great Britain on SS12 (Rheola 2).

The accident occured 1.5km from the start of the stage when the car bounced out of ruts while negotiating a right hand corner. The car then rolled completely over, landing on its wheels.

Amazingly McRae tried to continue - but after 4.5kms the car began overheating and suffering from low oil pressure.

McRae had built up a massive 45.2sec lead coming into the 31.47km stage, but his premature exit has handed the overall Rally lead to Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm - with Richard Burns just 3secs behind his world Championship rival.
