The Hyundai Castrol World Rally Team last week completed a six-day tarmac test in the Tarragona region of Spain testing the new evolution of the Hyundai Accent World Rally Car, the WRC?.

The test concentrated on a number of changes that have been introduced in the WRC?, including a focus on engine, suspension and power steering.

Armin Schwarz spent the first three days behind the wheel and was very happy with the results. He said: "The car really is feeling much better as a whole."

"We did a lot of work on performance over a short distance and it is feeling much more confident now. If the car can perform similarly over a long distance then things should definitely look promising for Corsica and Catalunya."

Freddy Loix covered endurance runs during his three days testing and was also complimentary of the car's performance. He added: "We improved stability and grip on high-speed corners which is obviously very important on these next two events."

"We covered a distance of 40-45km in one run which proved as successful as Armin's short runs. All in all I am confident we have a good package to take to the next two events with us."

Commenting on his rehabilitating foot, Loix noted: "I am seeing the doctor this Friday (22 February) who will advise whether I can begin walking on my foot. If he thinks it is strong enough I will spend the next week doing more exercise and practising walking, but until then I will keep using crutches."

The WRC? will make it's debut on the first true tarmac round of the season the Rallye de France Tour de Corse from March 8-10.
