Still considering his options on where to drive next year, Colin McRae is talking to Subaru, the team with which he won his 1995 world championship, about a possible return for 2003.

McRae, who has also been linked to Citroen, where he would lead their first full WRC campaign, has been talking to Subaru as revealed in Britain's Daily Telegraph.

"He is having meetings with management" a Subaru spokesman confirmed in the newspaper.

McRae previously told the same newspaper why he is looking at his options away from Ford. "It would be a shame to leave [Ford], but if they can't come up with anything solid soon that may be the case," he said, "If a good offer [from another team] comes along, it would have to be considered.

"My primary reason for joining a new team is to ensure that I had the car and package to bring me another world title - I don't have too many years to mount a serious challenge in the championship and I have to make sure I have a car capable of taking on the Peugeots."

A move to Subaru would not guarantee success however. Four time world champion Tommi Makinen currently stands at ninth in the championship in his first season with the team. Subaru's top driver Peter Solberg is currently sixth in the championship with eighteen points to McRae's thirty three.
