Burns out to win the Monte Carlo Rally.

2001 World Rally Champion Richard Burns has promised he will be even better prepared next season, starting in January with the Monte Carlo Rally.

The January classic will be an important event for the Brit and one in which he is keen to win, having failed to secure a single victory during 2002 with the Peugeot 206 WRC, while team-mate Marcus Gronholm romped to his second title.

Speaking to BBC Sport Online, Burns said: "To win it [the Monte Carlo Rally] is going to take a lot more work than last year.

"But I'm certainly going to be better prepared than I was last season.

"Last year the car wasn't set up right at all. It was difficult to drive, which is the worst thing you can have on that rally."

Burns' Peugeot boss, Corrado Provera is also anxious to get top honours.

"We want to do well and win every round of the championship," said Provera. "But we are a French team and this is Monte Carlo. We have done the rally three times with the 206 WRC and each time it has been unsuccessful.

"Victory in Monte Carlo followed by winning the championship would be perfect."
