The MG ZR rally car had a new driver recently for a feature in Britain's Cars and Car Conversions magazine.

Motor noter Richard Fiennes took the opportunity to sit beside Gwyndaf Evans and drive the car for himself for the March issue of the respected magazine.

Describing the MG ZR as a 'snarling go-kart of a car,' Richard first took to the passenger seat beside regular driver Gwyndaf Evans as the Welshman put car and scribbler through their paces at an old airfield.

Apparently sitting beside a professional rally driver is no problem for someone who has 'implicit trust in the ability' of rally drivers, Fiennes' only worry being that there could be a mechanical issue. With the tried and tested reliability and durability of the MG ZR that wasn't to be the case.

Taking his opportunity for his turn behind the steering wheel, Richard found the car to be a bit of a handful at first. The "tail comes round faster than that of an angry alligator," Richard says in the magazine after fishtailing his way through his first few corners. After that Gwyndaf imparted some of his vast driving knowledge to Fiennes and everything settler down for some real fun.
