Have your say: Why has Loeb been so dominant?

Sebastien Loeb has dominated the WRC this year, winning five of the eight events to date and in the process building a commanding lead in the drivers' championship - 29 points' up on Marcus Gronholm, his closest challenger.

Indeed despite the fact the Xsara WRC he drives is no longer run by Citroen Sport, but by Kronos Racing, the Frenchman has continued in the same vein as in 2005, winning more often that not.

He now looks poised to win the drivers' title for the third year running and is only two victories away from surpassing Carlos Sainz and becoming the most successful driver ever in the history of the FIA World Rally Championship in terms of event wins. Such is his confidence he even found time to compete in the Le Mans 24 hours again at the weekend - finishing second overall!

So just why is he so good?

"I think the dominance of him is first of all because he is a brilliant driver and he makes almost no mistakes," former WRC driver and Red Bull Skoda team boss, Armin Schwarz told Crash.net Radio last week.

"Secondly he has stayed with the team since he has grown up. He is taking all the assets together, what he can get from Citroen. He is in a French team he is French. They have most probably the best quality control of a car what I can see, because there is almost no retirements, no technical issues, whatsoever.

"I think that gives him the confidence just to drive rallies and not have to think about any technical issues."

It is not just down to brilliance though, he has luck on his side too at times, as Gigi Galli pointed out in a separate interview with Crash.net Radio.

"Sebastien we know, everybody knows Sebastien. Sometimes I think it is the machine because every time it is on the podium and we can see that on the result [time and time again]. I have to say sometime he is lucky too," added the Italian.

"I saw on TV in Greece when he reached the service area [at the end of day two] with almost two wheels. I have to say that probably the team did a great car and it was something special. In that case it was very, very, very lucky. I have to say also I think that Marcus [Gronholm] this year is very fast. Unfortunately he has been quite unlucky. Probably the car was, is still not reliable enough. But for sure compared to last year, between Marcus and Sebastien it is more equal. It is not a big gap like last year. That is my feeling and probably if the Ford was a little bit more developed it would be closer."

So can the Frenchman take the title for the third time this year?

Just why is he so good?

Is he poised to become the 'Michael Schumacher' of the WRC?
