BP Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala has retired from the Rallye Monte Carlo in SS12 - the second run through Labatie d'Andaure.

A spokesperson for the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team told Crash.net that the 22-year-old hit something during the 19.37 kilometre test and that the impact broke the front left suspension.

Latvala had been running in ninth place overall - more than 7 minutes off his team-mate, Mikko Hirvonen after losing a big chunk of time on Thursday in the opening stage when he had a puncture. He also lost more time this morning with a hydraulic problem, but had still been on course to score the final manufacturers' point.

It is not yet know if he will be able to re-start on Sunday and 'finish' the event under the SupeRally format.

More to follow later...
