MINI fails to register for WRC 2012?

FIA registration deadline passes - and MINI misses the cut off

MINI has failed to meet the FIA 2012 registration date for WRC manufacturers', it is being reported.

According to Autosport.com, the Prodrive-run outfit is still in talks with BMW, MINI of course is now part of the BMW Group, and the squad is now seeking an extension from the FIA, the sports' governing body.

When contacted by Crash.net, a spokesperson for Prodrive refused to comment on the matter.

MINI had been expected to take in all the events in 2012 with the John Cooper Works WRC cars, following a successful six-event campaign this season with Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke, the former notching up two podiums and also challenging for the win in France.

The deadline for WRC manufacturers' was yesterday [December 19].
