Four fans have been injured today in the shakedown for Rallye Deutschland, after PWRC driver Nicolas Fuchs crashed into a kerb.

According to initial reports, the front wheel broke off in the impact, injuring four spectators, one of whom suffered head injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Trier.

Organisers have since confirmed that of the four spectators injured three have already been released from hospital. The fourth person is said to still be receiving medical treatment.

After the accident the shakedown was halted early with drivers instructed to return to the service park. The priority 1 drivers had already completed most - if not - all of their runs, however, with Citroen's Sebastien Loeb quickest [see separate story - HERE].
