If ever there was a driver that really deserved to feature highly in this top ten it is Craig Breen.

2012 was a year of triumph and tragedy for the Irishman, who having won the WRC Academy in 2011, went on to do the same this season, but in the S2000 World Rally Championship. Breen clinched the title on the final event in Spain, when he took his fourth SWRC victory of the year. He also impressively finished sixth overall on Rally de Espana, something that gave him eight 'senior' WRC points.

Despite his successes, however, the season was overshadowed by the sad and tragic death of his friend and co-driver, Gareth Roberts. Roberts lost his life competing on the IRC Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia in June - a stark reminder of the dangers of the sport.

Breen also suffered retirements in Portugal (mechanical) and Finland (accident), but given what happened in Sicily, those moments paled into insignificance.

In the end you gave Breen an average score of 6.709 out of ten, and that puts him fourth overall in our vote.
