Solberg calls out Top Gear's The Stig for RallyX challenge

Reigning World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg has a message for BBC Top Gear's The Stig

Reigning World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg has laid down a challenge to the world's most famous anonymous driver - BBC Top Gear's The Stig.

Top Gear presenter James May competed in a specially staged World RX round at Lydden Hill but 'Captain Slow' proved easy competition for Petter Solberg and company.

After comfortably defeating May and chalking up a sixth win at the wheel of his PSRX Supercar, Solberg threw out a challenge to another Top Gear star.

"I have to be honest, it's not easy to get into one of these cars and drive it with 600bhp," Solberg said. "I didn't see much of James on the track, but you have to give him credit for coming and having a go. Maybe he should come and have a go at the first round of the 2015 series in Portugal.

"Or if he can't make it, why not send the man without any sponsors? You know, the man in the white suit..."

Next month Solberg will start the defence of his world title in Portugal for the opening round of the World Rallycross championship.
