SS14 of Rally Poland cancelled
The organisers of Rally Poland have cancelled SS14, the first test of the afternoon, on safety grounds.
The 17.70 km repeat run through the Mazury test had been scheduled to start at 15.38 hours local time [14.38 hours UK time]. However with too many spectators near the start officials were forced to can it.
A statement on the event's official website read:
"In the first section of the stage there were too many spectators who did not react to any instructions from the safety crew. In order to guarantee the safety of spectators and rally cars, the stage was cancelled.
"Rally cars were diverted to the start of the next stage via an alternative route. The organisers adhered to these instructions in order not to have an incident of any kind."
The event will now resume with SS14, the 12.87 km Wieliczki 2 test, running at 16.43 hours local time [15.43 hours UK time].
Sebastien Ogier currently leads the event, having extended his advantage over team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen this morning to 7.2s. Ott Tanak is third, just 0.1s up on Jari-Matti Latvala. Hayden Paddon, Thierry Neuville, Robert Kubica, Kris Meeke, Mads Ostberg and Dani Sordo fill positions 5 through to 10. Saturday mid-day report available - HERE.
