Ten Kate Honda rider Fabien Foret won the shortened World Supersport race today [Sunday] at the Assen TT circuit in the Netherlands.

It was Foret's fourth WSS victory of the season, and he beat his team-mate, Iain MacPherson by 00.406 seconds.

The race was shortened following a multiple rider crash in the final chicane on lap 12.

Prior to the incident, Christian Keller's Yamaha blew up dumping oil in the braking area and thus leading to the crashes that claimed six different riders.

Honda UK's John McGuinness, who was fortunate to avoid the final corner crash explained: "I went into the chicane as normal but felt the front wheel go from under me and realised there was oil on the track.

"I managed to save it and ran through the gravel trap to see a marshal on the track with a red flag."

The race was thus concluded after only 11 laps - 16 were scheduled. Luckily no one was seriously injured in the six-rider pile up, however one marshal did suffer what is believed to be a broken leg, after a crashing machine hit him.

After the Ten Kate Honda duo was Paolo Casoli, who claimed the final place on the podium for Yamaha. Then came OPCM Racing's Kevin Curtain in fourth and Alstare Suzuki Corona rider, Katsuaki Fujiwara in fifth.
