WSS: Sanna replaces injured Fujiwara.

Former GP star Simone Sanna is being brought in to replace the injured Katsuaki Fujiwara on the Megabike Honda for the fifth round of the Supersport World Championship at Misano.

Fujiwara was caught out by the difficult conditions at Silverstone during practice and crashed out injuring the wrist that he had broken in a previous crash. The Honda rider has decided to return to Japan to have surgery on his left scafoid. The 28-year old Italian, Sanna, who is replacing him holds the best lap time around the twisting circuit with a time of 1min 36.846secs which he set back in 2003.

"I want to say thanks to Honda and Megabike Team for this opportunity," said Sanna, "I can run in Misano, I'm very happy because I will have the possibility to return in World Supersport Championship with a high level machine, one of the best of the class and with the help of an asserted team. Misano track is for me a good circuit and I push hard to make a important result, for me and for the squad."

Salvatore Giorlandino, Megabike Honda Team Manager commented, "This year Fujiwara is not lucky and I hope that the second surgical operation can resolve the problem of his hand. We want to see him back on the circuits. We have chosen Sanna as the replacement because he is the Italian champion of the class and because he is a Honda man from two years. I know that he can ran a positive race in Misano circuit. We believe in him."
